Sophomore class has a great time at Gatsby themed Cotillion
February 8, 2015
The Class of 2017 literally walked the red carpet at its Great Gatsby themed Sophomore Cotillion on Friday, Feb. 6.
Over 525 tickets were sold for the dance and more than half of the tickets were sold to members of the sophomore class.
One of the class vice presidents, Maddie Phillips (’17) said, “Our theme colors are black, gold and silver, and we just wanted to incorporate a lot of those colors in the room.”
In addition to the color-schemed decorations, a red carpet surrounded by lights led guests into the dance. The sophomores also got a cardboard cutout of a car very similar to the one in The Great Gatsby to add to the theme.
Throughout the dance, students had a chance to eat a variety of foods.
Class president, Sofia Benedetto (’17) said, “We are serving all kinds of food from Chic-Fil-A to quesadillas to nachos to cookies to everything.”
The DJ at the cotillion was a Cherry Hill High School East alumni.
“The music is really good, I love the DJ, he is getting people dancing and involved,” said Sophomore Class representative Julia Wolf (’17).
In addition to a lot of food, fun and dancing, the Class of 2017 student government designed shirts to give as party favors at the end of the dance.
Benedetto said, “On the front [of the t-shirt] it has a little logo and on the back it says The Great Gatsby Sophomore Cotillion.”
The students who attended the cotillion danced away while having a great time at the Gatsby themed dance.
