Kaleidoscope Concert features talented musicians
On Jan. 28, various music groups from East performed a diverse collection of songs from The Beatles. The music groups consisted of Vocal Workshop, Chansons, Concert Choir, East Singers, vocal small groups, Rosa’s Close Harmony and Rosettes, String Orchestra and Studio Orchestra.

To commence the Kaleidoscope Concert, choral teachers, Laurie Lausi and Heather Lockart, orchestra teacher, Gabriela Mandescu, and band teacher, Gia Walton dramatically marching down the aisle, led by a spotlight. Following this entrance, the the String Orchestra conducted by Gabriela Mandescu played “The Beatles Forever” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Other songs performed include “Penny Lane” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney sung by Ladies of East Singers, Concert Choir and Chansons; “Hey Jude” by Paul McCartney played by Lab Band featuring soloists Dan Kelly (‘17) on trumpet, Ben Reisenbach (‘17) on tenor saxophone, Harrison Yang (‘19) on tenor saxophone and Dan Kornak (‘16) on alto saxophone; “Ticket To Ride” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney sung by Men of East Singers and Concert Choir; Studio Orchestra playing “Something” by George Harrison featuring soloist Dan Kornak (‘16) on alto saxophone; and finally, every ensemble coming together for the grand finale of the performance of “All You Need Is Love” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
The night also held a silent auction with about $20,000 worth of prizes in baskets as well as door donations. All funds and donations will support the Music Booster’s Scholarship Fund.
The concert proved to be a huge hit as standing ovations were given multiple times throughout the entire night.
