The Character Education Committee met today, February 11, after school to plan the pre-stages of their Character Education Week, which will be March 9 to 13. Co-president Jacob Charny (‘09) said that Character Education Week serves as an initiative to raise money and awareness for Character Education
 
At the meeting, co-advisor Mrs. Christine Shultz announced that this year’s focus and concentration will be on three areas: fundraising to send their recent collections for Treats for Troops to Iraq; Pull A Weed, Plant A Seed; and Caught Red Handed. To send Treats for Troops, the cost of sending one box is 12 dollars. So, Character Ed. is looking for as many ways as possible to raise funds so these boxes can be sent over. Pull A Weed, Plant A Seed is a school beautifying project and Caught Red Handed is when a teacher nominates a student for doing a good deed and winners receive pizza parties.
 
“My favorite [event] is Caught Red Handed,” said Charny, “because you catch someone doing a good deed and they get rewarded for it.”
 
Some fundraising ideas include a bake sale and a car wash.
