Fans have been excitedly anticipating a reunion of the universal comedy known as “Friends” ever since the finale in 2004. Their cries have been heard, and NBC is finally ready to deliver.

NBC sent out a tweet on January 13, saying “New announcement – #FriendsReunion! #NBCUTCA.” The tweet has since been retweeted 12,707 times and gathered 8,564 likes.

The beloved cast has reunited to participate in a two-hour tribute broadcast. It is a tribute to the legendary comedy director of “Friends,” James Burrow who has recently shot his 1,000th episode of television. Burrows directed 15 episodes of “Friends,” including the pilot. The star-studded special is set to tape later this month in Los Angeles and air on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 9/8c, alongside many other casts that are expected to reunite, such as “Taxi,” “Cheers,” “Frasier,” and “Will & Grace.”

Unfortunately, Matthew Perry, more commonly known as the man who played the role of the iconic Chandler Bing, will not be attending the reunion due to scheduling conflict. He is currently in the British capital preparing for his debut play “The End of Longing” which is set to open next month.

A picture of the first moments of the reunion has already gone viral. Kaley Cuoco (better known as Penny from CBS hit “The Big Bang Theory”) uploaded a picture to Instagram featuring her and TBBT co-stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Simon Helberg posing alongside David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow.

“It was just lovely to be in the same room and to honor Jimmy, who we all really love,” Schwimmer told Entertainment Tonight. “He is a prolific director and he really, really helped forge the cast as an ensemble, and really clarified all those relationships from the get go. So it was lovely to be there.”

Brace yourselves; America’s favorite cast is ready to take the TV world by storm once again—even if it is only for 2 hours.
