New Chickie’s & Pete’s restaurant to open in Marlton
March 13, 2018
Chickie’s & Pete’s, an iconic Philadelphia area sports bar, will soon open its newest restaurant on Route 73 in Marlton, at the former Champps location.
Famous for their secret recipe Crabfries and delicious pub food, Chickie’s & Pete’s has been a favorite gathering place of sports fans for over 40 years. Following the success of its original location in the Mayfair neighborhood of Philadelphia and the near cult following for its famous Crabfries, Chickie’s & Pete’s expanded to include a concession stand at Veterans Stadium and a second restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia. Additional locations, including the South Philadelphia restaurant near the sports stadiums, soon followed. The restaurant chain is still growing. With the addition of the Marlton location, there will be 13 Chickie’s & Pete’s full-service restaurants as well as additional venues offering food service at sports stadiums, amusement parks and at the Jersey shore.
In keeping with the time-tested formula of the other Chickie’s & Pete’s locations, the Marlton restaurant will offer an exciting atmosphere similar to the beloved South Philadelphia location, including frequent appearances by local sports stars and radio personalities. The Marlton location will give sports fans the opportunity to experience the tradition of visiting Chickie’s & Pete’s before a game without the inconvenience of crossing the bridge.
Tracie Kurtz, Marketing Manager for Chickie’s & Pete’s wrote, “Our Marlton location will be the perfect spot for all local and national sporting events,” adding that the Marlton menu will feature special items designed specifically for that location.
Gearing up for a spring 2018 opening, Kurtz wrote, “We hope to be up and running in March.”
With the grand opening just around the corner, the renovated building looks nearly complete. It has a substantial outdoor patio space that will be an added bonus for the restaurant during the warm months. Chickie’s & Pete’s recently held a job fair for the new location. According to Kurtz, the Marlton restaurant will create about two hundred jobs.
Excitement about the newest Chickie’s & Pete’s location is evident within the community. Leah Furey Bruder, Deputy Director of Community Development in Evesham Township, wrote that the new Chickie’s & Pete’s restaurant will “contribute to the vitality of the surrounding area by bringing people to Marlton to dine and shop.”
According to Kurtz, Pete Ciarrocchi, the CEO of Chickie’s & Pete’s, the visibility of the restaurant from Route 73 and the thriving community in Marlton will be a perfect location for the new restaurant.
It looks like South Jersey sports fans will soon be feeling a whole lot crabbier – while enjoying Crabfries at the newest Chickie’s & Pete’s, that is.
