The novelty pandemic, which has now sent America spiraling, has also affected many influential people around the world, as well as some in our own Cherry Hill community.

New Jersey, second in the United States, has almost 9,000 positive cases of COVID-19 with more than 100 deaths. Cherry Hill is located in Camden County which consists of almost 100 of the 9,000 positive cases. Even though Camden County may not be one of the epicenters of the coronavirus outbreak in New Jersey, the positive cases have affected us more than others, causing community members to be more cautious of their surroundings and a line of prayers being sent from ones who know some of the infected.

Household names like Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were some of those who have been directly affected by the pandemic. After being diagnosed with COVID 19 in Australia, Hanks and Wilson have said they have been feeling better and returned to the United States two weeks later on March 27. Whether people who follow basketball and know players like Rudy Gobert and Kevin Durant or Reality TV and know stars like Colton Underwood and Andy Cohen, movies where one can adore familiar faces like Idris Elba or even follow leading public figures like Prince Charles and members of the United States Congress, almost everyone knows someone who has been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Camden County officials announced on March 26 that the total number of coronavirus cases in Cherry Hill has now reached 34, which includes family members of Cherry Hill East students.

Everyone should take precaution as the coronavirus can affect people of all ages. Older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions like asthma, diabetes and heart diseases appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus.

Even though many are not directly affected by the virus by being diagnosed or showing symptoms, everyone has been impacted. The global pandemic has shut down schools, stores, many forms of entertainment and canceled trips, urging everyone to stay indoors and within 6 feet from one another.
