Death of Narcissa Black by Winkout

Story continues below advertisement

Genre: drama, horror, mature

Synopsis: First fancomic recommendation!! For those who have never read Harry Potter or paid much attention to the movies, Narcissa Black is one of the minor characters – mother of Draco Malfoy, Harry’s archrival (of a sort).  Take this fancomic by artist Winkout as a spin-off that can easily stand on its own since it focuses on the little-known character of Narcissa Black.  The story tracks major events in her youth that eventually lead to the climatic point when she “dies.”  It’s a dark, twisted story accompanied by beautiful, albeit sometimes disturbing, watercolor art.  Characters such as Andromeda, Bellatrix, Sirius and Regulus Black and Lucius Malfoy make cameos.

Story: 4.5/5

Art: 4/5

Consistency: 5/5

Comments: For people who have never heard of Harry Potter, reading this might be confusing because it references many magical terms in the fandom.  Also, there are a few quite graphic scenes.  Winkout clearly intended this for an older audience, so keep this in mind before you read.  A short, but very intense read.

Overall rating: 9.5/10

How bizarre…I came upon this evocative fic completely independantly of seeing this page, but when I googled the fic after reading it, imagine my surprise at seeing my own school’s newspaper recommending it…
