On Friday, October, 12, the Cherry Hill East girls field hockey team played Williamstown High School on Senior Day. It did not take Cherry Hill East too long to strike first, as Julianne Alcamo (‘21) scored the first goal of the match ten minutes into the game. Then, after multiple defensive corners, the Cougars struck again, this time the goal was scored by Julianne Calalo (‘19) with two minutes left in the first half. The team played incredible defence and ended the first half strong with a 2-0 lead.

Going into the second half, Appalachian State University commit Carli Ciocco (‘19), one of the captains on the team, came up the field strong and scored East’s third goal of the game ten minutes into the second half. Two minutes after Ciocco scored, Haley Lopez (‘19) put one in the back of the net. Now the Cougar lead by four, which gave them a big lead halfway through the second half. With five minutes left in the game, East had at least five defensive corners, but did not capitalize on them. Shortly after with three minutes left in the second half, Aubrey Demurjian (‘21) scored off of a terrific goal from the center. The Cougars overall played a great game and won 5-0. The goalie, Gabi Valladares (‘19), did a great job and stopped many hard shots. East’s next game will be against our cross town rivals, Cherry Hill West, at East turf on Friday, October 19 at 4:00 pm. Come out and support the team.
