The East girls’ swim team and the boys’ swim team are ranked first and second, respectively, in South Jersey according to the Courier Post. Whether it is pasta parties the night before a meet to get energized or the 3,000 yards swam in practice everyday to increase the level of endurance, it is clear that something is contributing to the swim teams’ success.

Ms. Ricci, the girls’ head coach, said, “We have a lot of talent and our swimmers work hard. The meet against Cherry Hill West was extremely motivational for our swimmers.”

On January 7, East beat West in a swim meet for the first time in three years, when the Seniors of this year were just incoming freshman.

“I give them my best technique, make sure they work hard and help them to achieve their personal best,” said Ms. Brahms, the boys’ head coach.

Ms. Brahms said that at the very least, one-third of the squad participates in other swimming programs in addition to East. Also, most of the swim team members are year-round swimmers.

With the uprising talent of East’s young swimmers, they are certainly becoming “the team to beat.”
