The sitcom “Friends” makes a comeback after 17 years.

It’s The One That We’ve All Been Waiting For. The F•R•I•E•N•D•S reunion has been a long awaited event that people across the world have been waiting for. Yesterday, on Thursday, May 27th 2021, The Friends Reunion Special streamed on HBO Max, debuting to millions in the US and UK.

The show lasted for a decade and in the 17 years since the show has ended, the six starring characters have been in a room together only once…until now of course. Ross, played by David Schwimmer, Monica, played by Courteney Cox, Rachel, played by Jennifer Aniston, Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc, Chandler, played by Matthew Perry, and Phoebe, played by Lisa Kudrow were the characters that our parents grew up watching, and they remain the same characters that we turn to today for comfort.

One of the creators, David Crane perfectly summed up the show in one sentence by saying that “It’s about that time in your life when your friends are your family,” something that is relatable to so many people at least once in their lives.

Friends is considered a phenomenon in itself, and putting these actors into a room on camera for the first time in years for the world to see, was truly a gift to all of the fans or “friends” of the show. Throughout the reunion, the audience gets to see the cast sit down together to do table reads, answer fan questions, recreate scenes, and look back on fond memories that have become a part of our culture today.

Of course, it couldn’t be a true Friends Reunion without some guest stars though. Actors like Reese Witherspoon who played Rachel’s sister and Tom Selleck who played one of Monica’s boyfriends on the show, also made appearances.

In all aspects, Friends has made history. Its theme song plays on the radio, it’s been watched over 100 billion times on all platforms, and it’s aired in more than 220 territories. But to so many people, the show is more than just something that makes them laugh, rather it is something that has pulled them out of difficult moments and even deep depressions during their lives. Simply put, the show impacts lives and has changed the face of television.
The Friends Reunion, whether you watched the show or not, definitely brings a smile to everyone’s face. This show and reunion and everything in between always makes me laugh and I will be forever grateful for all the moments that made me laugh so hard as to cry or spit out my drink or…pee (and don’t tell me you haven’t experienced this because you would be lying).
