Vocal groups announce members for the 2014-2015 school year

The small groups list have been posted after countless auditions and intensive callbacks. These lists announced the members of Belles of East, Stay Tuned, and the Madrigals for the 2014-2015 school year.

Seven new girls have been accepted in to the “Belles”, an all female group that performs classical and traditional music. Their audition includes one callback in which they play the belles and sight-read music. As part of the Belles, the singers do many community events and perform often, said Elizabeth Hallinan (’17), a member of the Belles.

Stay Tuned, a small co-ed group with 18 total members have accepted three new girls and three new boys for the 2014-2015 school year.

Stay Tuned has a series of auditions and callbacks for aspiring members. The group sings acapella as well as popular music, said Ashley Cooper (’17), a Stay Tuned member. They will be competing at the ICHSA (International Championship of High School Acapella) competition this coming year.

As for the Madrigals, seven new members have been accepted into this group. The Madrigals are known for their Renaissance style music but will be soon transitioning into more various styles, said Jenna Camacho (’17), a Madrigal member.

“I’m new so I haven’t been to a performance but I know it’s a lot of fun. Next year we get to go caroling in Haddonfield, go on elementary school tours and more,” said Camacho.

Their auditions consist of singing scales, a solo song and harmonizing with current group members.

The new members of the small groups are excited as they prepare for upcoming school year.

“I’m extremely excited to be in a [small group] because I feel like I’m going to learn so much about vocal technique and theory. It’s such an honor to be accepted into a group with such talented and dedicated people,” Cooper said.
