Spanish Club has its first meeting

The Spanish Club met for the first time in C307 today, January 21, starting the meeting off with introductions of everyone present.

Jonathan Lim (’10) started the club after consulting with Mrs. Alpizar.  He wanted to create a club that could go beyond the normal curriculum of Spanish class. Lim says that he started the club because he “loves learning the language of Spanish, but [he] also wanted to learn more about the culture of all the different Latin American countries.” Lim thinks that a more in depth knowledge of Spanish-speaking countries will help with everyone’s overall understanding of the language itself.

Lim plans on picking a different theme for each meeting, hoping to cover the different cultures of not just Spain, but also other Latin American countries. Food was mentioned as a possible addition to the meetings after Jungwon Byun (’10) commented on her love of different cultural foods.
