The bowling alley is packed!

The Ninth Annual Bowling for Bears event was held Sunday, December 8, at the Cherry Hill Playdrome. All proceeds of the event go towards purchasing new Build-a-Bear teddy bears as holiday gifts for children in need. Attendees were asked to get sponsors in $8 increments, the cost of one bear, and then enjoyed 2 hours of free bowling and refreshments at the event. The first 150 people to arrive also received free t-shirts. There was also a silent auction at the event, with more than 50 items, including signed sports memorabilia, restaurant gift cards, jewelry and more, all donated by corporate sponsors.

Donations can still be made online at bowlingforbears.org. All donations are tax-deductible.

Also, Bertucci’s of Marlton (515 N. Route 73) will hold a Dining for Dollars fundraiser next Sunday, December 15, from 11 am to 9 pm, during which 15% of all dine-in, carry-out and delivery orders will go to Bowling for Bears. Just mention Bowling for Bears, or bring this flyer.

Bowling for Bears was started by Jenny Silver (’14) when she was in fourth grade. The first two annual events benefitted patients at the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, who had been affected by Hurricane Katrina. Subsequent events have benefitted local children in need.

Over the past eight holiday seasons, Bowling for Bears has provided more than 13,000 children in need with Build-a-Bears as holiday gifts.
