The Civil Wars release its self-titled album

Two Grammys later, the indie folk duo, The Civil Wars are back with its second record, The Civil Wars. The indie rock duo is a perfect mix of the bands Arcade Fire and The Lumineers. The duo is comprised of the singer-songwriters, John Paul White and Joy Williams.

The record starts off with the lead single, “The One That Got Away.” The track is eerie with the haunting yet beautiful vocal performance by Williams. The best part of the track: the powerful and roaring final chorus, which starts off the record on the right foot. The third track on the record is a slower piece with a soaring violin and prominent backing vocals by White. Another slow tune and the best track on the record is “Devil’s Backbone.” The track features raw vocals and a variety of string instruments.

Overall, the record is excellent and is worth many listens. The Civil Wars are sure to follow in the footsteps of Arcade Fire and The Lumineers, selling out arenas and headlining festivals.
