Fall 2011 has begun and with it come some exciting new movies. Take a break from the homework, grab some popcorn and do not miss the season’s upcoming hits:
This September, don’t miss Contagion, an action-packed movie about an incurable, lethal virus that is spreading by the second. A woman named Beth (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) and her husband (played by Matt Damon) are unexpectedly affected by the virus and killed in just two days. Deputy Director at the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (played by Lawrence Fishburne) works with other doctors to find a vaccination that will save the rest of the world from contracting the virus before the researchers themselves get sick. A blogger (played by Jude Law) exposes that certain facts are being kept from the public and people break out in panic. Contagion hits theaters on September 9.
If you’re looking for a comedy this September, check out I Don’t Know How She Does It. Sarah Jessica Parker stars as Kate whose life is one big balancing act. Between her job which is quickly speeding up and her kids and husband at home, her life is beyond crazy. When her husband (played by Greg Kinnear) also gets a new and more time-consuming job, the couple has even more to balance. This comedy, based on the acclaimed bestseller comes out on September 16.
Looking for more action instead? Twilight star Taylor Lautner stars in Abduction which comes to theaters on September 23. Nathan (played by Lautner) discovers that his life is a lie. He is living the life of someone else who is being searched by a team of killers. With his neighbor (played by Lily Collins), Nathan must escape with the assassins and find out who his real parents are to save his life.
If you’re looking for a film with drama, don’t miss Moneyball starring Brad Pitt. Pitt plays Billy, the manager of the Major League baseball team, the Oakland A’s. Billy decides he must reinvent his team on an extremely tight budget. The movie, based on a real story, also hits theaters on September 23.
Want something a little more light-hearted? Check out the musical Footloose which hits theaters October 14. Paramount Pictures is coming out with a remake of the classic 1984 film. Kenny Wormald stars as Ren, who moves to a small southern town that has outlawed music and dancing after a tragic accident. Ren tries to stand up and convince the town to repeal the ban but many of the councilmen, including a leader played by Dennis Quaid, are reluctant to change. Ren continues to battle the town while falling in love with the minister’s daughter (played by Julianne Hough).
